So, it has been a very (very) long time since I last posted anything on here, and I figure it is far past time to do so. I am proud to announce that I have surmounted the epic endeavor of getting published! Don’t get too excited now, it’s just in an undergraduate academic journal. All joking aside though, I am very happy to finally (soon) have my work published somewhere, even if it’s not the fiction I’m most passionate about (one day *crosses fingers and prays to every god&goddess I can name.*).
With this achievement on the horizon I wanted to take a little bit of time to talk about what I’ve been up to this past year or so. The paper I wrote “Change the Narrative: Empathy in Post Apocalyptic Fiction” that will soon be available to read through Ball State’s Digital Literature Review in their 5th Issue “Imagining the Post Apocalypse” which launches April 30th. I’ve also done some content writing for the DLR‘s blog on zombie apocalypse survival which you can read here. 🙂
The last time I would have posted here was July 24, 2017, which at least means I didn’t go an entire year without posting. (You know you’ve had a hell of a year when celebrate that fact.) But, it’s been a good year. I’ve been interning with the DLR and Ball State English Department as a publicity and communications intern, both of which have been amazing experiences.
I’ve learned a lot about content writing, social media management, and event promotion, and I’m pretty sure I’m graduating at the end of this semester with a BA in Creative Writing. I’ll be returning in the fall (can’t get rid of me yet Ball State) for a combined an MA in Creative Writing with the English Dept. and an MA in Emerging Media Design & Development with the Journalism Dept. In other words, I probably will end up following my celebration of not waiting a whole year before posting again by not finding the time to post for the next three years. Wish me luck.
That being said, I am very excited to to be graduating soon and attending grad school in the fall. I hope to do an internship with community involvement this summer and can’t wait to celebrate my first publication through the Digital Literature Review. I do hope to find the time to attend to this blog and start getting content up and running again. Well, that’s it for my short update. Hope you all enjoying our Indiana weather (aka all four seasons in the same week).
